The construction is not arbitrary, both design and materials used are the result of cooperation between RCR and the best experts in the area. Many prototypes of various materials were tested over time, until RCR reached the final design. The materials meet the requirements based on military specifications and are traceable back to melting furnaces! These brakes work extremely well; you will probably sell your Baja before these brakes wear out!
